Nyonya Food We Love

Our to-do-things in Malacca were nothing extraordinary. Eat and relax mostly. But each time Andy and I reminisced about the food we had, we would look at our calendar and make plans for future trip.

Besides chicken rice ball, we really love the nyonya food served at Seri Nyonya Peranakan Restaurant, Equatorial Hotel Malacca.

Everybody's Happy

.... to finally check-in at Hotel Equatorial, Malacca

Can imagine our relief when we were able to find a room at Equatorial. The newly renovated premier room with the daybed was really lovely, which served as kids' corner for our stay.

Next on, water play for Chloe and Bosco!

Must thank my helper for taking these photos!

The Love For Chicken Rice Ball

We miss Malacca famous chicken rice ball so much from our last visit. The first thing we did when we drove into the city, before we went to the miserable A'Famosa, was to savour the bouncy rice balls with the succulent chicken. Oooh la la..

And the best rice ball was served at this Chop Chung Wah coffee shop (at jonker street, opposite 三叔公 local delicacies shop.) You won't miss this shop at the corner of the street with tourists queuing up!

It's so good that it's worth driving 2 hours on the road for it! :)

A'Famosa Resort

Over the weekend we had this terrible experience with A'Famosa Resort, Malacca.

It all started with a getaway plan to Malacca. Thinking of trying some place new, we chose A'Famosa. Although heard from couple of friends that this place was not worth visiting; that everything there was expensive and that it was far from the city, we still made our booking at their condotel.

"How wrong could a resort be, right?"

So there we went, called up to make reservation. And double triple confirmed that all admissions to the attractions would be free alongside with the room booking.

Driving excitedly to the resort, we arrived at this deserted resort feeling gloomy. The view in front of our eyes were dry, yellow, patchy. What happened to the greenery? To the crowd? To the 'resort' atmosphere. My gawd!!

It was nothing close to the photos featured on their website. We tried to stay calm as we drove towards the condotel to check in.

Shortly after that, we stepped at this 2-star-lookalike apartment lobby, served by a staff who speaks minimal English, in her oversized uniform. I couldn't get her look out of my head even until now.

Good thing that she was polite. She suggested us to go around the vicinity while waiting for our key, which only will be available at 1pm. So we took her advise, hoping that the attractions would prove us otherwise.

But before we could entered to the water world and animal world, we were stopped to buy tickets! What tickets?? I thought it's included?!?

There and then, Andy and I felt we've had enough. We requested for cancellation right away. The idiotic reservation staff that I've spoken beforehand was completely ignorant of his empty promises. Where did all the free admissions go?? The whole conversation with A'Famosa staff was completely helpless.

The only helpful guy from the whole resort would be the front desk manager, who offered help to fulfill our cancellation request.

This experience with A'Famosa proves how a resort could get SO WRONG. Boo hoo!

We felt so relieved and lucky after we got out of that misery place. Then started the real holiday with our trusty Hotel Equatorial. Be back with more Malacca posts :)

Feasting With The Seetos Again

The Lims and The Seetos met again 2 days ago here in Singapore, before they flew back to their countries. We sought for mum's help again to babysit Chloe and Bosco for catching up with our lovely guests.

Andy and I left work on-the-dot and went down to meet them at Somerset.

This was the view from their balcony at 28th floor..

There were 15 of us that night, we then proceeded to Long Beach@Dempsey for the famous chili crab. Thumbs up for the splendid seafood and services.

Humongous chili crab - burp!

Tiff's busy taking photos to show Mark what he has missed. Ha ha!

It has been such a great pleasure catching up with the Seetos. Great food coupled with silly jokes and lovely chat. Truly awesome!

Baking Craze

Yet another facebook game that we're hooked on to lately. Andy and I have got our own bakery shops. Even Chloe and Bosco too on their accounts. I really like how the kids' bakery shops look like now, cos there are only the four of us running the bakery business. Our own ABCD bakery! Ta-da! :)

Try out the game, people!!

Long Awaited Break

Andy and I had just returned from Kuching, Sarawak this evening. We were invited to witness the beautiful wedding of R&R at the bride's hometown.

All thanks to my mum-in-law who helped to take care of Chloe and Bosco, this 3D2N trip was certainly a good break for the two of us. We got to spend some quiet time together, wined and dined without having to worry about baby meals, baby naps, and all other baby stuffs.

Though it was a quiet town, the great hospitality from the hosts was everything. Will post more about the trip soon. Good night for now!

6 Weeks To Toddlerhood

Can't get over the fact that my baby boy is turning 1 year old in 6-week-time.

A little updates on his milestone for the past 2 months:

9 months old
• crawled better
• babbles wa wa wa wa
• took porridge 2x a day with limited choice of vegetables

10 months
• crawling fast
• separation anxiety
• hand signs: bye bye, flying kiss, peek-a-boo
• imitating: talking on the phone, turning on the TV and fan
• no clear papa or mama, continue to blabbering
• no sign of first tooth yet
• 2x porridge with more variety of vegetables
• still on 100% breastmilk
• active, cheeky yet adorable :)

今早有趣的一番话

爸爸:"思慧,来爸爸跟你脱你的冷衣。"
思慧:"不要,弟弟都没有脱!"
爸爸:"不一样,弟弟的是一整件。" (romper)
思慧:"爸爸,弟弟是 ’奕健’!!"
